Reduce Waste

Recycling is key, but lots of other apartment communities don’t have recycling programs. Commit to use water filter systems instead of bottled water to reduce plastic.

Buy Plants

Plants can help reduce electricity since, they minimize the amount of pollutants in the air and therefor the need to use electrical cleaning devices will be less.

Non-toxic products

Natural cleaners like vinegar and baking soda, are far better options as to cleaning agents with chemicals.

Put of the light!

Switch off all electronic devices as well as lights you do not use. This includes small devices like cell phone chargers, toasters and even coffee makers. When all the energy consumed by the smaller devices are added up, it adds up.

Switch bulbs

Change from incandescent bulbs to CL (compact fluorescent) bulbs. These will make a world of difference in energy consumption.

Here are four tips on how to unpack after moving into an apartment to get you set up as quickly as possible:

  • As you bring in your boxes, drop them off in the right rooms. For example, boxes containing your plates, utensils, and cookware should go into the kitchen. Bring your clothes into your bedroom.
  • Once all the boxes are inside start unpacking them right away. It’s okay to put everything on the floor. The goal is to get rid of the boxes as fast as possible so you’ll be motivated to put everything away.
  • Organize each room one at a time. Start with the rooms you use most, get them set up, and soon you’ll feel right at home.
  • Enlisting friends to help with moving makes it faster and more fun. Be sure to buy lunch and beverages to show your appreciation.

  • Get a cue: You want one that feels good in your hands, with enough wrap to give you a good grip. Look for a stick about 19-20 ounces, and about 58″ in length.
  • Focus on form: Don’t grip the stick too hard with your non-shooting hand. Practice a soft grip that allows the cue stick to move smoothly as you take the shot.
  • Take it easy on the chalk: Though you need to chalk the cue tip before every shot, don’t grind the chalk cube. A little bit goes a long way.
  • Take your time: Lining up the best shot is part art, part science. Take your time, and see where the ball will go before you strike it.

We hope you use these tips during a billiards game in our club room. Our team encourages you to contact us at 888 San Mateo for helpful information regarding our brand new apartments in San Mateo.

How to Bathe Your Resistant Dog at Our Pet Wash Station

May 21st, 2015

When it comes to apartment living with a dog, keeping them clean and smelling fresh is not only good for you and your carpet- it is good for your dog too!

At our pet-friendly apartments in San Mateo, our residents have a pet washing station to keep their dogs looking great and feeling fine, but not all dogs enjoy a bath.

Here are a few tips that can help make bath time a little less stressful for you both:

  • Use treats to coax your dog into the pet wash station, this will get them into the tub on their own terms and create a positive experience.
  • Pent up energy often contributes to uncooperative moods; be sure to exercise your dog prior to bath time.
  • Have someone help you bathe your dog.
  • As long as there is no aggression, ignore the dogs wining or wiggling and stay on task.
  • If your dog starts to struggle too much and you are afraid he/she might hurt themselves, wrap things up for the day and try again another day.

Do you have any questions on our community? Feel free to contact us to learn more about the pet washing station in our pet-friendly apartments in San Mateo and our other amenities.
