How to Amp Up the View From Your Oversized Windows in San Mateo

February 26th, 2015

The oversized windows in our San Mateo apartments provide you with spectacular views, and there are a few apartment decorating tips you can use to make sure you’re maximizing that view instead of hiding it.

One great way to emphasize the view from your apartment is by using solar shades or sheer shades. Either one will give you a glimpse of the view even when you have your window covers pulled.

If you’d rather not change the window covers, you can always leave your existing ones open as much as possible so you can enjoy the view throughout the day.

For a more artful way to amp up the view you’ve got through the oversized windows in your apartment, choose a simplistic design with your interior decor.

When you use a minimalist approach to your decorating, you won’t take away from the view with the furnishings and other decor inside your apartment.

Would you like to have the tight abs look of a Pilates buff without breaking the bank? At our modern apartments in San Mateo with Pilates studio, all it takes is a ball and a few simple exercises.

Here are four exercises to workout your abs.

  • Sit on the mat with your left leg folded in front, your right behind and the ball in your left hand. Roll the ball away from your body as you bring your right arm up and over. Repeat for eight reps, and then switch sides.
  • With hands flat on the mat, slowly go into plow pose reaching your toes over your head and then back to perpendicular with feet flexed.
  • Lying face up, place your toes on the ball, hands flat on the floor. Roll the ball away from you as you lift your hips an inch off the floor and then return.
  • Sit up with arms straight out in front. Engage core muscles with a straight back and slowly lower to a 45 degree angle while bringing your arms into your chest with closed fists. Return to starting position.

Get More Counter Space in Your San Mateo Studio Apartment

February 12th, 2015

Freestanding kitchen islands not only provide additional work, counter and eating space, they also serve to delineate the eating area from the living in our studio apartments in San Mateo.

Rather than take up precious room with a separate dining table and chairs, add a freestanding kitchen island. You’ll get the counter space for meal preparation and storage while keeping your overall living space streamlined and open.

Kitchen islands come in many lengths, widths and heights so be sure to measure the exact space you have available before shopping in stores or online.

Counter tops also come in a wide variety of materials from bamboo and butcher block to granite, marble and steel. Deciding on the overall usage and style to fit your apartment decor will help narrow the options.

Finally, choose which extra features like additional shelves, drawers, and hooks will really seal the deal for you and then shop away!

Our studio apartments in San Mateo are compact, but full of luxury amenities such as garden tubs, washer/dryers, walk-in closets, pantries and more. See for yourselves by contacting us today to schedule a tour!

One type of material that will give your bathroom the feel of a spa is bamboo, and all types of products are made with it. While touted as an eco-friendly material, bamboo does have its detractors.

As an educated consumer, you can be sure the bamboo products you buy don’t have a detrimental environmental impact by buying only sustainably-sourced products.

Creating fabrics from bamboo fibers requires a lengthy, chemical heavy process, but it’s still not as bad as non-organic cotton processing.

Floor mats, vanity accessories, wastebaskets, towel racks, drawer organizers, and shelves that use bamboo harvested from sustainable farms is a viable green way to decorate your bathroom, even though most products are still produced overseas.

There are a few US sources that are making bamboo toilet paper, paper towels, and other products using a thermo-mechanical process rather than chemical, which is an even better solution for our luxury green apartments in San Mateo.

Our community is LEED Gold-designated and offers a full range of eco-friendly amenities. Contact us today for more information or to schedule a tour.

But if your kitchen is overstocked following the holiday season, here are three apartment organization tips for guidance:

  • Pot racks and pegboards get the clutter off the counters and onto usable space that’s often ignored. Surf Craigslist for used pot racks, or build one yourself with an old bicycle wheel and standard hooks found at most hardware stores. Hang a nifty pegboard on the hallway wall to hold recipes, to-do lists, phone numbers, notes, photos, etc.
  • Separate the kitchen area from the living space, and increase the countertop work area in your kitchen with a wheeled kitchen cart. This can hold a toaster oven and cookbooks or a cutting board and dishware.
  • Adding hanging shelves to the wall leading into your kitchen area or to the wall opposite your kitchen island is a great way to increase storage space and make your living area more interesting.

These apartment organization tips will make entertaining and daily cooking chores a pleasure in our luxury green apartments in San Mateo. For more information about joining our community, contact us today.

Benefits of the Eco-Quartz Counters in Our San Mateo Apartment

January 13th, 2015

We went to a lot of trouble making sure our building specifications matched the strict codes needed for LEED Gold certification, including all of our interior apartment fixtures, appliances, paints, flooring, and countertop surfaces.

Our eco-friendly apartments in San Mateo with quartz countertops are one example of this dedication to comfort, style, durability, and carefree living. Sleek and stylish, eco-quartz is a radon-free alternative to tile or granite, and it’s just as durable.

Eco-quartz is made of mined quartz ground into crystals and bonded with polyester resins under intense pressure to make solid, nonporous slabs that are milled and polished, then customized to each design specification. There are no seams so no sealing is needed; plus, eco-quartz is bacteria-, mold-, and heat-resistant.

Our apartments in San Mateo with quartz countertops clean like a breeze, with just a little soap and water, and the countertops resist stains and scratches. You’ll find eco-quartz in both the bathrooms and kitchen areas of our luxury apartments.

Our brand new, LEED Gold designated, eco-friendly apartments are a step above anything else out there for rent in the San Mateo area. Come see us by contacting us today.

Learning bike maintenance, repairs, and road safety tips in a biking 101 class is also a good idea. For example, here’s a simple way to reattach a bike chain that’s fallen off.

  • Your bike isn’t broken if the chain comes off the front chain ring or rear cogset, but it will require you to fully stop and get your hands a bit dirty reattaching the chain.
  • You can use your finger or a small stick to gently pull the chain back onto the closest groove in the rear nearest the frame.
  • Then lift the rear wheel up off the ground and peddle backward to realign the chain on the cogset.
  • Finally, go through the gears peddling forward to make sure the chain goes through each gear properly, and you’re off!

Our luxury apartments in San Mateo with bike storage offer many more premium features and a lifestyle you’re sure to love. See our complete interior and exterior amenities package by contacting us today to schedule a tour!
