Concerned About Pet Safety? Get Your Dog Licensed in San Mateo

September 23rd, 2014

You’ve found your best friend, and it was love at first sight; we’re not talking about your pet. Loving your pet, unfortunately, is not enough to keep him safe.

Our pet-friendly apartments in San Mateo allow all breeds of dogs and cats; however, the city requires you have your pets licensed. But why?

  • It shows the public your pet is vaccinated and safe.
  • A license allows you to communicate at an Animal Control Center more efficiently when your pet is injured.
  • Without a license, you could be cited and face multiple penalties.

When you want to invite your new friend into your pet-friendly apartments in San Mateo, make sure you provide the following to receive a license:

  • a completed application
  • an updated rabies certificate
  • a spay/neuter certificate
  • a copy of your current driver’s license

Receiving a license for your pet is not only a safety net for the public, but it also gives you peace of mind when you’re in dire situations that require governmental help regarding your pet. Grab your pet and his information, and head to an animal center near you for a pet license.

3 Scenic Hiking Trails for Autumn Outdoors in San Mateo

September 12th, 2014

The weather is nice, so why not get out and enjoy it with some outdoor recreation in San Mateo? One activity we recommend is hiking as an enjoyable and challenging way to get in your daily exercise.

Here are three hiking trails we have found near our apartment community for you to explore.

  • Batteries to Bluffs Trail: This trail is just under a mile and should take less than an hour to hike, but do not hesitate to stop and enjoy the scenery. You can get a glimpse of Marin or the Golden Gate Bridge, or stop at Marshall Beach. If you would like to extend your trip, you can hike along the Coastal Trail toward the Golden Gate Bridge. The level of this trail is moderate, with some climbing and steps along the way.
  • Edgewood Park Serpentine Trail: This trail is 3.3 miles, so it only takes about one to three hours to complete your hike. It is surrounded by trees and plenty of green land. The level of this trail ranges from moderate to hard, depending on your speed and the location.
  • Purisima Creek Redwoods: If you love a good challenge, this trail is seven miles and could take up to half a day to complete your hike. The temperatures reach as high as 90 degrees in the summer, so be sure to take precautions and bring water. The trail is surrounded by redwoods, ferns, and wildflowers, as well as a coastal scrub and babbling brooks. The level of this trail is moderate, but it is also family-friendly.
